Since 1984, Ruwan has dedicated his life to the art of cinematography. His journey began at Kingswood College's photography society and led him through OCIC's prestigious film program. From award-winning features to compelling documentaries, he has spent nearly four decades crafting visual narratives in Sri Lankan cinema and beyond.
Born in Mawanella, Kegalle, his passion for visual storytelling has taken him from local television to international productions. As a cinematographer, he has contributed to over 25 feature films, thousands of television productions, and numerous commercials, constantly pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling in South Asian cinema.
